This picture of Mingary Castle, the seat of the MacIains for three centuries and finally abandoned in 1838, shows it today, with restoration work well under way.  Many people didn’t believe the scaffolding would survive the winter gales, but it did, with only a few scaffolding boards coming loose.  Read more about this exciting project which aims to turn the castle into a house which can be rented by the week at http://www.mingarycastletrust.co.uk

The waters around Ardnamurchan are ideal for kayaking, with spectacular views and abundant wildlife, including dolphins, whales, seals and sea otters.
